It’s about time that I mention Christian Patterson here. I’ve been admiring his photography for a while now and it has gone unsaid. Christian currently has a body of work titled Sound Affects on display at the Yancey Richardson Gallery until November 25th.

Sound Affects carries some of the Eggleston-esque subject matter one might expect from a group of images all taken in Memphis, Tennessee (2003-2005), but photographed in, let’s say—a very Patterson-esque way. He has a remarkable eye.

The photographs are colorful, smart, interesting and most definitely worth seeing in person if you’re in New York City. However, if you’re not you can still see much of the work via Christian’s website and/or blog.

    i saw the show friday.
it was kind of a dissapointment. probably only 6 or 7 photos.

  2. Christian says:

Thanks for the kind words, Shane.

Trevor, there are 11 prints in the New York show. This is the number of 24×36” and 40×60” prints we could fit without the installation becoming crowded and amateur-looking. White space can be a good thing.

There are 25 prints in “Sound Affects,” and they can all be seen on my website.
