Photo March Madness, 2007
© Chad Muthard

Yesterday, Chad Muthard took a moment to share with me this wonderful fifteen-minute-turned-four-hour creation that has been circling around the photo blogging commmunity ever since. What Chad designed was a bracket system where photographers are essentailly competing towards a final four, a playoff, and in the end—a winner. Download the PDF, print it out, and let me know what you come up with.

The truth is, I’ve barely been able to make it to a final four with this. It’s too hard, Chad! Can’t all great photographers be winners?

Along a similar line, Christian Patterson has suggested the creation of a Photography Family Tree. I love what he has to say about it:

While not purporting to be a comprehensive historic documentation of the development of photography, it certainly provides hours of entertainment, and can be used as a quick reference and to settle arguments.

UPDATE: Check out Brian Ulrich’s visual representation of Photo March Madness.
