I’ve been really enjoying the work of Justin James Reed lately, as many of his photographs feel like they could have a dialogue with newer work that I’m making. Justin is a relatively young photographer, though older than myself, fresh out of an MFA program at Tyler School of Art (at Temple University) where he now teaches. He was a former assistant of Alec Soth and in some of his images, particularly the portraits, I can notice an influence. I got in touch with Justin a month or so ago to let him know that I was enjoying his photographs and he seemed very kind through e-mail. A month later, I’m still looking at the same images.
Yesterday, Justin joined the photoblogging community with his blog From This Moment, which is off to a nice start. I’m looking forward to more from him.
