I was wondering if that was intentional? I guess there are a lot of other photographs of rocks
in the world, but the Timothy O’Sullivan picture and your picture have very similar compositions, with the big rock on the left, the little wavy shrubs, and the landscape in the background.

Carter, I didn’t intentionally shoot this to reference O’Sullivan’s image but I can see how you could compare the two — and I’m glad you sent me this. It’s funny how his rock is “carved by drifting sand” and these rocks in my photograph are most likely shaped by the human hand and could end up as someone’s decorative lawn ornament.
I never really got the rock in the lawn thing.
