I’ve been in Vermont for the past few days and though things here are moving rather slow compared to being the city, I’ve somehow struggled to find time to sit and write. The good news is that I’ve been looking at a lot of great work this week — so many exciting projects bookmarked that I’ve feel as though they’re are beginning to pile up on me. At the top of the pile right now (thanks to an introduction by Joerg) are the photographs of Mark Brautigam.

On Wisconsin, Brautigam’s only series on his website, has been a real pleasure to come back to.

Yeah, I love this series too. I was talking to Greg about how well Wisconsin is represented in photography. There’s also Christian Patterson’s project, which has the same title, and Kerri Jamison has some wonderful work taken in Wisconsin. If you haven’t seen it: http://www.kerrijamison.com/

Maybe they’re trying to grab the attention of John Szarkowski, who’s really proud of his home state, or maybe it’s just a really sweet place to shoot.

I third the love for this series. It’s funny, I saw some of the images first on the flakphoto.com site (which I only just discovered tonight, somehow…!) and now here he is all over my Google Reader as I catch up on some blog reading. Speaking of which, I think I’m maxed out. I’m starting to feel dizzy.

Wisconsin is such an unappreciated state (with exception to the Chinese and Korean communities that are fanatics about our Ginseng). The more days I spend here in NYC, the more I long for my home state. This series is a pretty good representation of it, but it still needs more of that perfect summer vitality that the land breathes to wholly represent it, but this is good stuff (I can actually identify a good chunk of where those picture were taken, which is sorta odd). Thanks for bringing this series to my attention, Shane. I suggest you also check out Christian Patterson, he’s another photographer from Wisconsin. I bring it up because you seem to adore Mr. Eggleston and you can tell that Christian was influence by the man (assisting him for a few years sure helped that, I suspect).

Hah, funny you mention it Roy; I worked with Christian for a few months (this past summer). We traveled around upstate New York shooting and I assisted him on an editorial job in Colorado.

    He’s a great guy.
