I like many of Ted Partin’s quiet and intimate portraits. Ted works within the black and white tradition of August Sander and Diane Arbus and is often (though working very differently) compared to Nan Goldin.

He relies on direct gaze, subtle gesture and the seductiveness of the black and white print to establish a delicate triangle of desire and intimacy, while also chronicling important elements of our urban socio-sexual culture.

Ted graduated from Yale in 2004 and was, more recently, selected as one of the “50 Photographers of Tomorrow” in William Ewing’s reGeneration.
