Fjord is a collaborative book project made possible by friends and photographers Grant Willing (founder and curator) and Alana Celii (webmaster and designer), of which I am very happy to take part in. Fjord aims to bring the work of a generation of young photographers together and to, ultimately, produce the work in the form of a book. The website for the project has officially gone public.
As described on the site,
Fjord is a project that showcases the photography of young, up-and-coming photographers. The drastic shift in the way work is being presented today has become especially noticeable in the more technologically adept generation. Fjord‘s goal is to bring together a collection of notable photographers from the internet and showcase their work in book form. This transition from internet to book will allow a different audience to experience the work thus bringing emerging artists into the public’s view.
At this point in time (tentative, really) the participating photographers are as follows:
Dustin Aksland, Nicole Akstein, Mary Amor, Michelle Arcilia, Adam Bernales, Coley Brown, Mikaylah Bowman, Alana Celii, Céline Clanet, Jon Edwards, Bea Fremderman, Dana Gentile, Gustav Gustafsson, Jessica Hans, Paul Herbst, Whitney Hubbs, Karolina Karlic, Nicola Kast, Clare Kelly, Jon Knobel, Andrew Laumann, Shane Lavalette, Bryan Lear, Miranda Lehman, Seth Lower, Sophie Lvoff, Michael Marcelle, Alexander Martinez, Lydia Anne McCarthy, Andrew McComb, Ye Rin Mok, Chad Muthard, My Little Dead Dick, Erin Nelson, Erika Neola, Jennifer Niederhauser, Kaarel Nurk, Grady O’Connor, Ulijona Odisarija, Nils Orth, Chrischa Oswald, Justin James Reed, Lazaro Rodriguez, Tamara Rosenblum, Bryan Schutmaat, Brea Souders, Tim Steer, Sean Stewart, Joseph Tripi, Brad Troemel, Jesper Ulvelius, Elo Vázquez, Kamden Vencill, Corrie Vierregger, Greg Wasserstrom, Shen Wei, Alice Wells, Ian Whitmore, Mark Wickens, Jessica Williams, Grant Willing, Sarah Wilmer, Davin Youngs.
Many good friends and quite a few online acquaintances are amongst the names on the list – some of whom have been previously highlighted on this blog. It has been exciting to watch these people grow as artists and, of course, follow the photographic contributions they are making. This project is a truly fantastic way for these young individuals to be recognized and, quite literally, come together.
Again, I’m really happy to take part.
More news on when exactly the book will be available (and, also, how to acquire a copy) will come shortly. Stay tuned for that. Until then, see what’s online.

I don’t have time to fully view the website. But I find it a great idea and I saw some photographers start doing somthing along these lines aswell but not exactly so it is intresting to see what will come of this maybe i’ll extrapulate my comment later when I review the site. But I like the simplness of the web design along with the text logo its very sharp and classy.
