I’m not sure what Jason Nocito would say he’s doing with language or with photography, but I’m intrigued (and simply can’t stop looking). It’s actually rather refreshing to come across a portfolio that initially baffles me in this way.

Jason’s constructed visual relationships seem to push the boundary of what can be “said” or, rather, how an experience be be represented by a play of images. Perhaps Jason is what we could call an absurdist photographer?

In any event, I have to thank Jason for making my day.

Take a look at more of his work – it might make yours, too.

Hey, I’m a Nocito too! Is your Family from Boston? I’ve heard there are Nocito’s there. There are other Nocito’s in Argentina. My Nocito’s are straight from Italy – I was born there near Naples in a town called Torre Del Greco. As far as I know, all the Nocito’s in America (besides me) are descendants of my paternal great-Grandfathers brother who apparently immigrated to Boston around the turn of the (20th) century. The rest of the Family stayed in Italy, where they still are (except for me & my parents who moved to the US in 1980). In Italy there is only one family named Nocito, so all the American Nocito’s are descended from that one family, I know this because my uncle did an exhaustive search of census records in Italy and determined we were the only Nocito’s. Anyway – Hi ! If you’re interested in knowing anything more about your distant Italian relatives, let me know.
