“Sweded” Be Kind Rewind Trailer by Michel Gondry
Thursday, February 21, 2008Indeed, this is a “Sweded” version of the actual trailer - meaning Gondry messed up the film reel and had to re-create his own trailer using whatever props he had on hand. Meta film; brilliant!

There is a glaring anachronistic flaw with this movie that will make it hard for me to suspend my disbelief: VHS tapes!

I work at a mini-lab at a costco and right in front of the lab is a row of HDTVs playing a 15 minute loop of ads and trailers endlessly. Be Kind Rewind is one of those trailers and I see it every 12 minutes or so (I know the trailer well to say the least). Seeing this was a nice change and of course, Gondry is the king of improv-moving making.
