Some new work by Michael Schmelling was recently posted over on Tinyvices. The photographs are from his latest book, The Week of No Computer, which was released through Tim’s publishing project, TV Books.
For those of you who haven’t already read it, take a look at my interview with Michael from last December. Great guy, great photographer.

I concur, Shane. I seem to cross Smelling’s path most often on the subway (though he’d used my lab back in the day). A watcher, that Michael is. Just like Tress says.
One of the things I like about tinyvices is the reactions (think PH08). When I shot the IV Lingerie story for Tim @ Vice Mag, someone wrote about it in their Doctoral thesis in some sort of outraged sex/semiotic sort of way.
A card I did for my book was a catalouge of critical statements of my work and outrageous reactions by the famous and infamous “an amatuer w/ a toy box camera” (Jaglom), “you have no right to do that to anybody or to anybodys family! You’re sick, Thatcher” (Melissa Leo), “The best asshole photographer in New York” (Stuart Kaufmann)
I’ll follow w/ a couple illustrations.
