Speaking of great Japanese photographers, it’s worth mentioning that Hiroshi Sugimoto‘s Seascapes are on display right now at Gagosian Gallery in New York for an exhibition titled “7 Days / 7 Nights.”

Do yourself a favor and go see these prints! You have until December 20th.

And for Swiss and people nearby there’s a Sugimoto retroperspective until January 25th 2009 in the Museum of Art Lucerne, Switzerland:

Including about 10 seascapes but also many other of his projects, plus a massive catalog/book.

the 2008 winter edition of the japanese magazine “Photo GRAPHICA” features Sugimoto on its cover. I did not have the chance to check this issue yet but former ones featured files on various japanese photographers in a classy and enjoyable design…
